What is Technology Infrastructure?

Technology Infrastructure

In information technology and on the Internet, infrastructure is the physical hardware used to interconnect computers and users. Infrastructure includes the transmission media, including telephone lines, cable television lines, and satellites and antennas, and also the routers, aggregators, repeaters, and other devices that control transmission paths. Infrastructure also includes the software used to send, receive, and manage the signals that are transmitted.

In some usages, infrastructure refers to interconnecting hardware and software and not to computers and other devices that are interconnected. However, to some information technology users, infrastructure is viewed as everything that supports the flow and processing of information.

Infrastructure companies play a significant part in evolving the Internet, both in terms of where the interrconnections are placed and made accessible and in terms of how much information can be carried how quickly.

TAT7's iphone scuba case

TAT7's iphone scuba case

First 5 minutes of video was shot using an iPhone 4s

A friend of mine, using iphone4S underwater housing for video shooting.

The above video was using TAT7's iphone scuba case to shot.

Underwater iPhone Case Only Lets You Use the Camera App

It might be waterproof to 100 feet, but TAT7's iPhone Scuba Case only includes three strategically-placed mechanical buttons for launching and operating the default camera app. So updating your Facebook profile from Davy Jones' locker isn't going to happen.
The $85 case can be installed in just seconds—you literally just slide your phone in and close the door. And it includes a wrist lanyard so you won't need James Cameron's help if you drop it. Its three waterproof mechanical buttons look like they're positioned to operate the home button, launch apps located in the lower right corner of the screen, and operate the camera app's shutter button and photo/video switch. But that's it.
There's no way to access or use the iPhone's keyboard, or even swipe to unlock the lock screen. So before you head out into the deep blue sea you'll want to make sure you've turned off any automatic lock timers otherwise you'll be carrying nothing but an expensive dive weight.

Research underwater casing for iphone

CASE MARINE – Waterproof iPhone with 0.25mm

“This is the Case Marine. Until now, waterproof cases for smartphones haven’t looked very good, as they’ve all been bulky. But we’ve developed a stylish, attractive case. It’s made of 0.25mm polyurethane with a special finish. The screen part is made of acrylic. It can be used for an iPhone or a Galaxy S2. With a bit of practice, this case can be put on in about 5 seconds. When it’s attached, there’s a bit of slack at the back. Even if the phone is placed in water, the case makes it waterproof to everyday standards. The seal on the back has been certified by Oki Engineering; it has a JIS rating of IPX8, which is the highest level in Japan. So it keeps your smartphone waterproof down to a depth of 10m.”

Besides protecting your device from raindrops, even if you accidentally drop your phone from 32ft (10m) height, then this new cutting-edge Waterproof iPhone Case will make sure that your device remains intact. The best feature about Marine iPhone Case is its sleekness, which leaves a scope for using another case on top of this thin case.

Availability of Case Marine Waterproof iPhone Case is only restricted to Japan, for now.

Patiam’s iPhone 4S underwater case goes down to 300meters

Patima’s Canon PowerShot S100 housing, which is an incredibly sturdy piece of housing design. Now it’s time for the Korean manufacturer’s latest and indeed more “exotic” product. Today’s high-end Android and iOS smartphones have very capable cameras and work especially well as a video camera. So why not take one underwater? You can now If you want to as Patima’s latest will let you take your iPhone 4 and 4S diving with you. The Patima iPhone housing is named i-Patima and will withstand pressures down to 300 meters.

This housing is a video, or if you wish a stills, housing. What this means is that it has the controls only for the stills and video functions and you will not be able to make calls or browse Deepshots once your phone is inside the housing. The Patima casing only has five buttons which are enough for the crucial camera functions.

This housing just looks amazing and anyone I have seen pick it up in the office have been struck by its… well awesomeness.  It looks like an extremely heavy duty ingot of silver with built in windows. It truly is weapon grade and I’m sure you can “shoo away” overly enthusiast sharks with it if needed. The housing is closed with two big metal clasps which make sure there is absolutely no way it to open once in use.  It weighs about 400 grams without the phone and you can also add a nice aluminium handle to it for a small extra charge.

To use the housing you will need to upgrade your iPhone 4/4S software to the latest version.  It is best to customise your “quick start tray” (pardon me if I don’t know all the right i-thingy jargon… I’m an Android user) so that you have a camera shortcut included in the tray also. The buttons you have for the phone controls are the on/off/sleep button on the side of the housing which is needed for obvious reasons. Note that the phone needs to be turned on to standby before putting it in to the housing. The next button is for the home button. By pressing the home button twice you will activate your camera functions and then the 3 remaining seemingly conductive touch screen buttons work for the video/stills mode changer, for the shutter release slash record and for the gallery/review button. You will only be able to view the last picture you have taken as you can’t move about in the gallery. Nice and simple.

UPDATE: Because of the latest iOS software update the way to use the iPatima housing does not work exactly as described here. As the camera now needs to be unlocked with a swipe the double press does not work anymore. To use the housing you will need to disable the lock screen and insert the phone into the housing while it is active.

Conclusion: The Patima iPhone/Android housing is the ultimate video housing for your smartphone. It is aimed at the technical diving market but I can see it could work in any situation where you will need extremely tough protection for your phone when videoing. If you are planning to dive deep the Patima housing is the only off the shelf housing that will allow you to take any camera to the crushing depths of 300 meters.  Even the mighty Gates housings are depth rated only to about 140m  and these mini submarines can cost five figure numbers. The iPhone in the i-Patima housing is hands down the cheapest and the smallest video capable set-up you can take beyond the 60m mark. The Patima housing is also the only real diving housing officially available for the iPhone 4 and 4S models currently.
